Teaching

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, in no small part because of the experience gained from contributing to various social science modules during the decade I spent working at The Open University. The closest I have ever come to explicitly articulating the philosophy of my own teaching is outlined in a short commentary on the theme of ‘Teaching geography without scruples‘, and in an older piece on ‘How to talk properly and influence people‘.

At Exeter, I teach on modules related to social theory, urban studies, global change, and research methodologies.

I remain actively interested in adult education, as a member of the South West Regional Committee of Workers’ Educational Association.
